Introducing

Telehealth

Telehealth is an important option for many families. It overcomes distances and time difficulties and allows individuals who are unable to come into a clinic – the option of receiving assessment or therapy in the comfort of their own home.

- Speech Pathology Australia

Private health fund rebates can now be claimed for Telehealth services. Medicare based EPC team care arrangements via your GP can also attract a benefit for a Telehealth services. NDIS funding supports the use of Telehealth.

Speech Pathology Australia supports the use of Telepractice as a service delivery model – where it is based on current evidence-based practice and is at least as equivalent to standard clinic care.

Jenni has found success assessing and running sessions with a cooperative 3.6 year old – right up to more mature clients who are having difficulty chewing or swallowing. Younger children can be easily observed in play and interacting with their parents – which allows advice and support to be given.  It has been a particularly useful tool with older primary students who are working on literacy concerns.

During the recent COVID-19, pandemic Jenni was able to maintain services to her regular caseload. She also sees clients in Singapore and Malaysia via telehealth – as they are only 2 hours behind Brisbane time. She welcomes referrals from country and remote areas in Qld.
