Jenni is a graduate of the University of Qld. For many years she has been successfully treating children and adults with communication, literacy and feeding/swallowing disorders.
Jenni has worked with Qld. Health and in the UK, in roles that have ranged from sole clinician to Manager of a Child, Youth and Family Health Team; as a Senior Clinician in a Health District and as a private practitioner. She has worked with babies, children with special needs and adults and their families in venues as diverse as: health centres, hospitals, nursing homes and private clinics.
With a background in feeding and oromotor difficulties in infants and young children, Jenni can assist families with transitioning to oral feeding from N/G tubes. She works closely with an OT and dietitian using SOS strategies in tackling ‘fussy eaters’.
She has a particular interest in tackling literacy issues with school-age children and uses a number of strategies and effective synthetic phonics programmes . Referrals for cleft palate and disorders of resonance are welcome. Jenni is available to visit adults with communication and feeding difficulties within local nursing homes or at home by arrangement.
Jenni maintains good networks with local treating physicians and has close links with the Mater Hospital. She regularly attends the Speech Pathology Australia National Conference and other workshops with international experts in speech and language, in order to remain current in her practice.
