This usually lasts 1 hour, where a case history is taken, formal assessment completed and written report provided. The treatment plan and number of following sessions are outlined and therapy sessions booked in (often in term-time blocks of weekly therapy for school age children). Liaison and feedback to parents and teachers is a priority.
Screening assessments in local childcare centres often take place at the beginning of each year.
Individuals can also be referred as part of the Medicare Initiative for Management of Complex and Chronic Conditions via their GP team care arrangements, if they meet the criteria for that programme. This will provide up to 5 subsidised treatment sessions.
Most Services are delivered in the Seven Hills based Clinic, but can also be in Kindy/Childcare centres, in schools, nursing homes and private homes. A mobile service away from the base will attract extra costs. She has close links with the Mater Hospitals, particularly with the care of newborns and young children. Hearing screening is offered within the clinic for children 4 years+.
Therapy can be provided on a weekly/bi-weekly individual basis. Intensive holiday programs are popular with some families – particularly before the start of a busy school year. Flexible options are offered for busy working parents – Jenni does visit some local schools. Telehealth is offered to both Brisbane and rural & remote and overseas families.
